An acronym, a software application description, etc.

‘10_Q’ came about spontaneously as a ‘working title’ at an early stage of the development process, the reason being that most exercises in the test section of the program can each contain 10 questions (or statements, blank spaces, etc.) maximum. Short and easy to remember, it still seems to be a suitable ‘headword’ for the series of products presented here.

‘CLASS’, which can be seen next to the licensed version name in the tutorials, is an acronym of a phrase describing accurately the nature of the product – Computerized Learning Authoring Software System, and implies that the program is oriented towards schools and education. In the program, in the Tutorials, and in the demo projects, the software is usually referred to as ‘e-Learning Authoring Program’, since this is a more common term.

The full, licensed version of the program is called ‘10_Q’. The free version for students and schools has the word ‘LITE’ added, signifying that certain capabilities are missing. ‘10_Q Micro’ is another ‘downsized’ version; please find more details about all 3 in the ‘Description’ section. The names are followed by an edition number – presently ‘03’. Behind this misleadingly small single-digit number, there have been dozens of expansions, modifications, and functional upgrades in the long development process.

Having come to this page means that you know or have seen the website address. The product name, ‘10_Q’, could only be retained with some ‘slight’ changes: the number is entered as the word ‘ten’ in lower case, the second element – ‘q’, is in the same format; they are divided by a hyphen, and the extension is ‘.net’.
